The Challenge
Finding teaching materials that make students as excited about technology in the classroom as they are outside school is a challenge we recognise. We know that teachers really need ideas for delivery of IT programmes that are fun, relevant and real and which address student perceptions of IT as ‘boring’.
The Solution
The e-skills UK suite of Future Talent programmes have been designed for the 10 to 19 year old age range and include interactive resources that bring out the excitement and creative potential of real life technology. Their realism and relevance comes from the fact they are all created in conjunction with employers.
CC4G is an award-winning initiative that captures students' imagination at an age when young people typically become disinterested in IT. CC4G is designed for students aged 10-14 and the gender neutral materials are suitable for both girls and boys.
After a highly successful three-year project, funded by DCSF, CC4G was re-launched in October 2008 with support in England from Becta.
The New CC4G
The new-look CC4G now provides materials mapped to the National Curriculum at Key Stages 2 and 3 for all students – boys and girls. New features include:
Becoming a CC4G Partner
CC4G can help partners to support their schools whilst meeting their own objectives using a collaborative approach.
Whether you represent an LA department such as Curriculum ICT, Extended Schools or Study Support or another educationally based organisation such as a City Learning Centre, Playing for Success Centre or a local library, becoming a CC4G partner will position your organisation as an innovative ICT education leader in your community.
Embedding CC4G within your educational development plan offers you an innovative approach to addressing issues associated with transition, extended schools, community engagement, and other local objectives.
